The Tale of the Misunderstood Squirrel

"My name is ….Ooh a nut. Sorry, where was I, I’m Charlie the squirrel. I love scurrying around, jumping from fence to fence. I always got very hungry in the park, where I used to live, as all the other squirrels collected the nuts faster than I could. So I decided it was time to move. In the dead of night I crossed the now empty road to a street which from now on I would call home. I found a nice garden to sleep in and quickly made myself at home. The people next door were even kind enough to leave me bits of food to nibble on. But the family who owns the garden don’t like me. One woman has labelled me ‘the evil squirrel’, shouts at me, threaten to shoot me with a water pistol *sob sob*. What have I ever done to her? I don’t see her very often so hopefully I will be able to scurry in peace. If you visit and keep a keen eye out maybe you will see me. Until then, goodbye."

Womecdotes

See how many you know.

You have been Wommed, don’t do it again!

A rolling Wom gathers no moss.

It takes Wom to know Wom.

A Wom in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Easier said than Wom.

Great Wom’s think alike.

Home is where Wom is.

Many Wom’s make light work.

One good Wom deserves another.

Put all your Wom’s in one basket.

Wom is mightier than the sword.

Too many Wom’s spoil the broth.

Two Wom’s don’t make a right.

Where there’s a Wom, there’s a way.

Where, where, where, where's Wom, a where's Wom?

Wom's cycling adventure

Wom went for a holiday on the Isle of Wight and decided to hire a bike so he could take himself out for a ride. He found his nearest cycle track and was on his way. Sandown was not very far away so he headed in the other direction, towards Newport. The bike was a bit big for him but he soon got used to it and quite enjoyed the pleasent ride through the countyside. While crossing a bridge he spied a small boat and decided to stop to take a closer look.
Round the corner Wom spotted a bike his own size and thought he might give it a try.
Wom got tired and decided to take a break and have some lunch. He found a friend to hold him up by the sign so he could see how far he had traveled, WOW a whole 4 1/4 miles for a wombat. That is impressive. After his yummy lunch he started the journey home. Once home he was worn out so had an early night zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Wom's Adventure to Campus

Wom was curious about students so he took a journey up to campus. He booked his ticket on the local transportation system and was on his way.The ride took almost 20 minutes and was very enjoyable. He entered the lecture theater and sat down. He was confused why the whole class were facing the wrong way!!
The lecture was fun but Wom found it hard to make notes so he just listened. Then the lecture was over so he made a speedy exit and slid down the stairs, weeeeeee.
Wom waited for the transportation home but it was delayed because of a breakdown. So he decided to make his own way.
On the journey he got tired so he hitched a ride with one of the many back-packers common to the area.
The back-packer was stopping at the next building so Wom asked to get off,but the silly back-packer put him down on a wall!! 'How am I going to get down from here?!'
A friendly passer-by came to Wom's rescue and brought him back down to earth. As Wom travelled over many different types of terrain he came accross a strange colour hole. Having watched a war film on t.v the day before he deduced it was a grenade hole and thought it best to move on, swiftly.
Wom passed a news stand and the 'Summer fashion' advert caught his eye so he picked up a free copy.
Wom came accross a swimming pool. Luckily he had brought his swimwear so he took a quick dip. The water was pleasently warm.
It was getting quite late so Wom thought it best to carry on his journey home. Five minutes later he found a strange furry lifeform. 'Wom Wom.....Meow??'.They quickly became friends but communication would need a bit of work.
Wom could see the train station so he was almost home. He perched himself on a post and thought 'From here I look like a train, chuga chuga woo wooo', sadly he was mistaken, and quickly remember he was a wombat, not a train.
Wom had arrived home and opened the door. It late and Wom was getting hungry, 'Time for dinner'.

Talking of adventures...

Last night I definitely had one!!
My housemate, H, woke me at about 2 in the morning as she was feeling unwell and panicky and having trouble breathing. Long story short (I wont embarrass her too much!) we ending up ringing a taxi to take us to A&E.
It was bizarre, I hadn't been there before but she had on a couple of occasions, but it definitely smelt familiar to me. I reckon all hospitals must smell pretty much the same. By this time it was about 4am and i was really sleepy but all I could think about was when I had been in hospital 15 years earlier, for an extended stay. It brought back all the happy memories, not the sad or scary ones, and was quite reassuring really.
She ended up being put on a nebuliser to calm her breathing, which is also a bit of a childhood memory as my sister Debs has been on a nebuliser many times before so I vaguely knew what to expect and could explain it to H who had never experienced it before.
After that she was mostly fine, though very shivery, apparently due to the meds. We got a taxi back home, now in the morning dawn which was confusing, and headed slowly back to bed.
Needless to say, I haven't done much since and my brain is still a bit foggy!!
Now I'm off to a restaurant for chocolate puddings as part of the handing over of the chocolate society commitee. Will attempt to take some fun pictures to show you.
Hope you have a less eventful day then me.
Speak soon

Just to say....

Hello. I'm alive really!!
Just been very busy with work and exams and then sneezing, lots of sneezing!!
I've got a lot more free time on my hands now so hopefully might be around a bit more.
Might also get on with my scrap booking of Barney's baptism, though that could be tricky with my printer being dead :-(.
Also in store is possibly some more Wom adventures from Barney (but I wouldn't hold your breath for it!!)

Wom's Space Adventure

It is every young wombats dream to go into space. Today Wom fulfilled his childhood dream.

Before he could go into space Wom needed to meet certain physical requirements. He trained for weeks on his running machine.
Next, to simulate the sort of forces he would experience he spent some time in the G force simulator. Afterwards he felt very dizzy.
Wom passed all the tests and became an astronaut. Launch day soon arrived and the clock was set at T- 60 seconds. 3...2...1...BLAST OFF and with a jet of flame Wom was on his way to space.
Space was HUGE and Wom could not believe his eyes. He could see all kinds of planets and even a moon.
The pink planet looked the most appealing so he set a course, 'Engage' he thought to himself, though he did not know why. As Wom journeyed the many light years to the planet he was glad he had his space helmet to supply oxygen.
As Wom landed on the pink planet he was greeted by a strange cubic lifeform. 'All visitors must wear the customary pink hat' the cube said. Wom accepted the hat and wore it with pride.
Wom decided to explore the planet and he came across many cubes and even a red and white cubeling. The young cube said Wom should meet the chief cube who was cloured blue and orange. Wom jorneyed the pink plains, hills and forests and finally came to where the chief cube lived. 'Ah, a new visitor, good good, welcome to our planet.' said chief cube. Wom spent all week on the pink planet enjoying many luxuries including the planets specialty, battenburg cake.

Wom missed home and so it was almost time to leave. As Wom was making his preperations to leave a cube waddled over to him saying 'I don't know where my home is, I'm all muddled up'. Wom felt sorry for the cube and helped the cube find his way home.
When Wom got home he was greeted by all his friends. They were all intrigued by his new hat and wanted one. Wom had started a craze. Wom missed the pink planet but one day he might return.

The calm before the storm?

I am performing every night next week in an operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan; The Mikado.
I am really looking forward to getting on stage and performing it for real, especially as I have got a little fed up of rehearsals!! I know it will wear me out and I will be exhausted all week, but I reckon I'll be running on adrenaline so it will be ok. Plus it's the end of term after that so I can go collapse in a ball at home afterwards.
But right now, I don't exactly know what to do with myself. I've done all the work that's due in next week and the rest of the stuff which is for after Easter seems to be beyond my brain power at the moment. I'm sure there are many things I need to buy/do before I start performing on monday, but I have forgoten them currently. I'm tired but dont think bed is a good idea as then I'll never sleep tonight. Most of my housemates are hard at work on essays etc. so I shouldn't disturb them.

So all in all I feel like I'm in some sort of limbo, biding my time waiting for it all to kick off tomorrow afternoon with the dress rehearsal, but not really knowing how to prepare myself for it all!!!
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

Wom's Grand Day Out

Due to popular demand, Wom is back!
Wom had a day free in his diary and so he pencilled in a day of fun activities.
Wom started the day early and went for a walk in the park. It had lots of beautiful flowers, trees and a clear blue pond. Wom made a freind with a gnome fishing for bears. Wom thought this was strange so he moved on, singing to himself 'Wom-Wom-Wom'.
Wom always had a love for animals so he went to the zoo. There he found a vast number of animals: lions, giraffes, pandas and a monkey which had a sign on its cage 'Do not feed the monkey!'. Wom decided to obey the sign and not share his cheesy nibbles.
After a yummy lunch he decided to try some sporting activity. This was Woms first time skiing, he was a bit scared but his fears faded when he was given some purple (his favorite colour) ski poles. Wom skiied all afternoon and all that exercise made Wom very hungry. It was almost time for his dinner reservation.
Wom had lasagne for his dinner and decided to treat himself to a yummy chocloate pudding. He saved the chocolates until last.
For the evening Wom ogranised a game evening with his friends. They played snakes and ladders, cluedo and poker. Wom was very good at poker beacause he had a very good poker face. Wom had a very good hand, a straight, and won lots of pennies.

Wom was now very tired and it was time for Mummy Wom to tuck him in for the night. He dreamt of the lovely day he had.

P.S
The next day Wom started a staring contest with a random rabbit. My sources tell me that they are still at it.

Edited to add that the rabbit is called Marp and is very friendly!!

Wom : A life

Our story starts with Wom. He is a wombat.

It was Wom's first day of school
Mummy Wom: It is almost time for school, have you done your teeth?
Wom: Yes mummyThe term flew by and as December approached the weather got colder and colder so Mummy Wom bought Wom a really well knitted, warm scarf.
Wom made loads of friends at school and he invited them round for Christmas. He had a yummy Christmas dinner cooked by Mummy Wom and enjoyed opening all his presents. He especially like his chocolate reindeer. The new year brought chilling winds and heavy rain.Poor Wom caught a cold.
Wom decided to join the technical age and bought himself a mobile phone. Now he can talk to his friends.
The years flew by and now it was time for Wom to go to university. He wanted to study maths because it was the best subject and he really enjoyed it.He took his exams and all he could do was wait for results day.
Results day finally came and he was very please with his first class honours degree. The whole Wom family came to see him at his graduation.
